Page of Swords Tarot Card Meaning
Minor Arcana · Swords · Page
Keywords: curiosity, mental agility, communication, new ideas, vigilance
Upright meaning
Quick-minded, curious, and communicative — a sharp intellect eager to learn and speak.
The Page of Swords stands on a hilltop, sword raised and held at angle, surrounded by stormy, windswept skies — alert, eager, and scanning the horizon for information and action. This Page embodies the energy of quick intelligence, insatiable curiosity, and the excitement of new ideas and discoveries. They communicate rapidly and directly, ask the questions no one else dares to ask, and approach everything with a sharp, analytical mind. News may be arriving; a new perspective is forming; a young or youthful energy brings challenging, stimulating ideas.
Reversed meaning
Gossip, all talk and no action, or a sharp tongue causing unintended damage.
Reversed, the Page of Swords' sharp tongue and quick mind become liabilities: gossip, rumor-spreading, all talk and no action, or words used carelessly and harmfully. The brilliant ideas are there but they are not being followed through with equivalent action or integrity.
In love
A new relationship with someone intellectually stimulating — fast-paced, exciting, and mentally engaging. Communication is sharp and direct.
A partner who gossips, speaks carelessly, or promises far more than they deliver. Watch what they do, not just what they say.
In career
New professional ideas and perspectives arriving rapidly. A role that values quick thinking, research, and clear communication.
Spreading misinformation, sharp criticism causing damage, or brilliant professional ideas never translated into concrete action.
Spiritual meaning
Spiritual discernment is the art of distinguishing truth from illusion, signal from noise. The Page of Swords, at their best, brings this gift of sharp, honest, courageous questioning.
